Recap: Marcus and Jolu start a club to fight against the Department of Homeland Security. At a meeting, they exchange public keys to IM each other in code (it would take me hours to explain what private and public keys are so if you're so interested in finding out what it is, GOOGLE IT). Anyway, they have a club and just as Vanessa did, Jolu quits because he doesn't think there is a point in fighting the government. The main character (Marcus) thinks the DHS are violating the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The DHS officials are pulling everyone's car over if they think the person is suspicious (REMINDER: THE STATE THEY LIVE IN (CALIFORNIA) WAS BOMBED BY TERRORISTS SO THERE IS TIGHT SECURITY). Now, Marcus and a person from the club who are going out, work together on what is called the Xnet (illegal internet that can't be tracked by hackers; again, very complicated). They try to make the DHS go away so they won't arrest some people for no reason. Marcus makes over FOUR-HUNDRED PEOPLE join the club and has a huge army to fight against the DHS. The DHS had known Marcus was the leader of the illegal club so they arrested him and waterboarded him (turned him upside-down and poured a bucket of water down his nose and mouth until it got into his lungs and he coughed; it was used as torture to get his user name and password for Xnet). The state troopers randomly came in and "arrested" the DHS officials. Marcus was let out of jail and he freed his country.
I think this book was good. It inspired me to stand up for rights. The author really described Marcus's emotions well. I'm probably going to read another Realistic Fiction book next.
Gray who is a member of SIGMA a special unit for emergencies is called into the Vatican in Italy. He goes with his partners Monk and KAt. There he met up with a girl named Rachel's Uncle Vigor. They are studying a mass murder at a church. The one survivor that they had found was killed in the hospital and a Portion of the Vatican was exploded. They discover that the terrorists are an anceint order called the Dragon Court. They go to another church to get the bones of several of the magi, but find that the order was already there and got all of the bones but an finger bone.
I Like this book and think that the author really makes the reader think and not want to stop turning the pages. Out of alot of the Authors books I have ever read JAmes Rollins is one of the best.

In the ends of this super long book, max gets captured by jeb, a scientist that really cares about her and believes she is going to save that world. The flock members don't notice she is gone because Jeb creates an exact replica of her. The only differences is that she thinks different an is trained to be part of this one mission they are about to have. While max gets captured, she gets put in isolation tank. She gets so used to the dark after hours and hours that when Jeb opens it to tell what is going on, its the worst thing that ever happened to her. Then she get put back in the tank. After hours of thinking, max fakes dead. They open the tank (which hurts her a lot) and quickly jumps at the window. (Yes, she can fly). She then tracks down the flock which takes a while and then has to fight the new max. She is about to win but she doesn't kill the other max. Then, out of nowhere, Gazzy tells the flock members to duck and a big bomb explodes. they are all fine but they suspect everybody has escaped the bomb.
I think this was a good way to end the book. it makes you want to read more. This is bad for me though because i want to read a different kind of book now. I think it was stupid that nobody died in the bomb explosion. they all ducked and they were fine. It was a good book also because i got a 100% on the AR test.

Although Dumbledore has instructed everyone that he does not want HArry to know of anything going on, Sirius decides to tell him that Dumbledore is being slowly stripped of his authority and that Harry is in danger. The next morning Sirius shows Harry his family tree and the fact that he is related to many including the Malfoys. Everyone continues to clean out the house after Sirius' mother's death.

They begin to read the "Quibbler" which is a newspaper that states the Sirius may be innocent of his crimes and the Minister Fudge (head of the Ministry of Magic) may be trying to take control of the Wizard's Bank. When they arrive at school, Hagrid is not there, and instead the carriages are being led by sinister beasts.

Jordana Ida B Chapters 1-10 ( 10 out of 32 ) (This is for the week of Nov. 10 - 14 )
In Ida B, the main character, Ida B, is an only child and lives with her Mom and Dad. She likes to go to her family's apple orchard and talk to the trees. She strongly believes that the trees talk back to her. She also talks to the brook and the wise "older than old" tree. And she has the same beliefs. Ida B hates being called Ida because that is her Mom's name and they have different personalities. Ida B is home schooled because of a mean kindergarten teacher and a bad experience. Ida B hardly ever gets in trouble. One incident is : On day Ida b thought that washing her face is a wast of time. Since dish soap is a good cleaner she thought that she could make a soap mask. In the morning her face was burning. Her parents didn't know it was dish soap so they took her to the doctor. Once they found out it was dish soap Ida B got in trouble. One morning at breakfast Ida B found out that her mother had cancer. Nothing in the Applewood ( Ida B's last name. ) house was happy or the same.
This book is good so far. when I found out that Ida B's Mom had cancer it made me sad, because she keeps having therapy and she might not live. ( Hopefully she does! ) The author is giving clues that because of her Mom's illness Ida B might have to go to regular school and Ida doesn't like that. I feel bad for Ida B and I hope every thing turns out O.K.
P.S. I finished The Penultimate Peril and it was very good!

They leave but Eragon stays, much to Saphira's dismay. Eragon encountered the last Ra'Zac and it requested something. Eragon deinied it and slew it. He went back up to Sloan and cursed him to walk into the elven lands and never be able to see his daughter Katrina again. He went then on the road toward the Varden base camp. On the way there he meets with Arya at an inn. THey go on the road together and had to kill a bunch of Galbatorix's soldiers. Once they got close to the camp, they encountered spirits.

Dhruv Patel Maze of bones- Done already! 0-200 and something
This book is about to kids- Amy and Dan who are in a contest. The winner gains ultimate power of the world. All members of the Cahill family got to join. (This includes Amy and Dan.) Not many people accepted because they had a choice of the 1st clue, or a 1,000,000 dollar check. Not many picked the clue. Amy and Dan picked the clue because if they picked the million dollars, they would not even get it until they were adults. The reason is because their parents died and now they have to live with their great aunt who only takes care of them so that she wouldn’t be in legal trouble. In this book they search for the next clue. They find lots of clues leading to the next clue but not the real second clue. At the end they find it. The summary doesn’t sound interesting. But the little details make the story interesting.
This book is very good. The plot was simple and it wasn’t confusing. I think after the first few stories, the series is going to be boring. I didn’t write that much in this section because I don’t have many questions now
Well, I've started a new series called "A Series of Unfortunate Events". It was really good, but I'll get to that in my opinion. In this book, there is a happy (filthy stinking rich) family of five who live very happy lives. The three children (Violet, Klaus, and Sunny) go out to do something and their house burns down. Their parents die along with the house and all of their personal belongings are destroyed. Now, remember how I told you they were rich? Whoever will get all of the money in the bank? Anyway, the children have to live in a relative's house (according to their parents' will) and the closest relative is Count Olaf (sounds evil). He was very evil and only gave the children one room (See why it's called "A Series of Unfortunate Events"?). He was never at the house because he was with his theater troupe (a better word would be henchmen) so he made the orphans do chores around the house. Count Olaf was evil because he was trying to get Violet to marry him to get the fortune (she was only 14). He made the orphans participate in a play where Violet had to marry him and Klaus was a guest (I'll get to Sunny later). The orphans read books in a neighbor's library to see how Count Olaf would aquire the fortune by doing a puny play. They realized that Count Olaf was going to actually marry Violet and as a husband, have full control over the fortune (Claus read about this in "Nuptial Law"!). Count Olaf figured out that Klaus figured out his plan. Now, back to Sunny. He dangled Sunny from a thirty foot building as a threat to Violet so she would marry him. She married him, but signed the marriage slip with her left hand (she was a righty) and therefore they weren't legally married. Count Olaf was too late because his henchman already brought Sunny back from dangling from the tower. Sunny was saved, but Count Olaf escaped. This is where the book ended.
I loved this book. I loved it so much I couldn't put the book down and read the hole thing in 3 hours straight! I loved the ironic, unfortunate twists Lemony Snicket puts in the book. I can't wait to read the next book.
Jordana Ida B Chapters 10 – 18 (This is for the week of Nov. 17 – 21)
In these chapters Ida B is very upset. Her mother has cancer and she is not her self. When Ida’s dad tells her that they are selling part of their land to pay for Mom’s hospital bills Ida B is shocked and very upset. On top of that Ida B will not be home schooled any more so she will have to go to a public school! Ida B cries a lot. She realizes that some of her “friends” (the apple trees) are being cut down because of the family sold the property. On the first day of school Ida B had not a very good day. She had a nice teacher and girls who wanted to be her friend, but she did not want to make friends. Ida B hated school and she didn’t want to tell her parents anything about the day. (She was still mad a them for selling property and sending her to school. Ida b was starting to drive people away from their property.
This is a good book so far. The author has very good descriptions and I felt very bad for Ida B after I was told that her Mom had cancer, and after her Dad told her the news about selling the property and that she had to go to regular school. I felt empathy toward Ida B!
This is the blog due on 11/22/08. I actually read the next four books of the series "A Series of Unfortunate Events". However, I'm only going to write about the latest book: The Austere Academy.
After living in four homes after the Baudelaires' parents' death in a house fire, Mr. Poe (the person at the bank that controls the fortune left behind by the Baudelaires' parents) sends them to a boarding school. This is because he doesn't have time to find a new home for them. The orphans find two triplet orphans who become their friends (the third one died). Their parents left behind a fortune too (what a coincidence). They realize that one of the teachers are Count Olaf (a person who has been after the Baudelaire fortune), but they don't let him know that they know. He knows that they know, but they don't know that he knows what they know until later (confusing huh). Anyway, the "teacher" tires the orphans out by making them run and they are so tired from running that they flunk their classes. They have to take comprehensive exams, but they also have to run with "Coach Genghis" (Count Olaf) at the same time. If they fail the tests, they will be expelled from Prufrock Prep and live with Coach Genghis (exactly what he needs to obtain the fortune). The triplett friends disguise themselves as the Baudelaires so the Baudelaires can study. They pass the exams, but the triplets get caught. Coach Genghis claims that the Baudelaires were cheating so they should be expelled. Then, Coach Genghis' disguise is revealed, but he runs away. The orphans are still expelled, so Mr. Poe takes them away for their next endeavor.
I liked this book. It was very confusing when it came to knowing things because I only found out some things at the end. This made me have to guess what would happen and I liked that...... :)
Mother-Daughter Book Club (I've also finished "The Slippery Slope" and "Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth Willam Mekinley and me, Elizabeth")
Pages 55-83 For the week of Nov. 17-21
First of all, Emma is really mad with Megan for not stopping her friend from reading Emma's diary aloud to Zach (she wrote a poem about him). Zach now doesn't want to be near Emma or Megan and the rest of the "FAB FOUR". Cassidy has tried out for hockey without telling her mom and gets in trouble, even though she makes the boys' team. Cassidy's mom takes her to a therapist and both the mother and daughter talk about Cassidy's dead father. (Her father just died and her mom is trying to get over it; her mom is now over-pretective). The therapist told them to sign an agreement. Cassidy agreed that she would try to be more lady-like, hae manners and lose her attitude. Her mom agreed to let her play hockey.
I think this book is good, so far. I wish Emma would be less of a wimp, get over her fears and use tons of mean back-talk towards the "FAB FOUR".
In the beggin the blueejay (Mo) and the black prince are protecting a village. They kill the soldiers of the milsop and go back to their camp. When Mo gets back to camp he and Resa reveal to meggie that Resa is pregnant with Meggie's little brother/sister. At the same time farid is digging up chests of silver for orpheous. Farid is mad at him because one of the chests could feed all of OMbra. When tthey get back Orpheous starts making unicorns and dwarves and colored faires for the milksop. Farid overhears Resa and Orpheous negagating for Resa, MO, and Meggie to get out in exchange for inforamtion from Mo to help Dustfinger. Resa understood that he would send Mo in trade for dustfinger who is dead so she declines. FArid did not understand though so he went to Mo and told him about it. Orpeous' plan succeeds and he gets sent into death.
I really liked this book. Cornelia Funke made a really clear picture in your head of what everything would look like.
Rangers Apprentice book three Jaxx Ottinger Will and Evanly get captured by the Skadians. They have to go on the wolfship and their hit by a by a big storm. The Wolfship almost falls apart but then the captain, Jarl Erak turnes the ship around and then they are forced to go on an island. The skadians whant to sell Will and Evanly in Skadia. Will is not happy so he tells Evanly a plan to escape. Their escape was that at midnight they would go to the ship by not being seen. Then they would go on the ship and sail away. So when they tried it they got cault because when they got in the boat it started to sink because their was no tape on the bottom. They got in big trouble. When they reached Skadia they were sold the first second and they were split apart.

So on Halts way to get Will he is goined by Wills best friend Hornce. On their way their are knights who chargy money to pass or to fight. Hornce beat all of them.

Max and the other mutanats have gone to colorado. Fang and mAx go search for a place to live while Iggy watches over the younger Kids (not that they are human/goat they are really human/bird). Iggy and the children get kidnapped by hundreds of robots called flyboys. Msx and Fang find Ella and Dr. Msrtinez who were MAx's old friends. Max gets the chip removed from her left arm but loses control of it as well.
FAng and MAx head out to rescue their friends when they discover that they were kidnapped. They get captured and discover that for the past few months they had been hooked up to a simulation of reality and just testing MAx. THis is were I stopped reading.
I usually don't like first person books, but this one I am interested in. I guess it's because it's really actiony.

Ida B
Chapters 10 – 18
(This is for the week of Nov.

The Austere Academy
Lemony Snicket
Finished

Pages 55-83
For the week of Nov.

I really liked this book. Cornelia Funke made a really clear picture in your head of what everything would look like.
