Subteranean
Haddon Antonucci
Page 1-100

This story is about a group of scientists sent down into a mountain in Antartica. They head into it and encounter dangerous beats that are reptile/marsupial. The surface base is also attacked by these monsters after their encounter.

I think that James rollins is a really good author. He makes you feel like you are in the story and you can picture everything.

Jordana
The End
Chapters 4 - 9

The next day Violet, Klaus, and Sunny were walking on the beach. Then they saw a cube of books on the coastal shelf. Violet lifted Klaus, Klaus lifted Sunny, and Sunny saw their friend, Kit Snicket, laying on top of the book of cubes. Her feet were both damaged. Then Count Olaf walked out of the cube, and said I'm Kit Snicket. They didn't believe him and then Friday walked by. She knew it was Count Olaf too. The city had a trial and Count Olaf was proven guilty. He was stuffed in to a bird cage. The Baudelaires were abandoned because they wanted to help Kit. Count Olaf taught them that Ishmael had feet of clay (figuratively) he didn't want any one to eat the apples so he could he could eat them and he pretended the his feet weren't injured. Two citizens of the town brought the Baudelaires food a Kit gained her consciousness. The town was having a war about not liking Ishmael against people who did like Ishmael.

I really like this book. It is clever and well written. I like how Lemony Snicket "talks" to the reader. As I have said before I'm gong to miss Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. Also as I said before I hope the book's ending is happy!

Neil
Dreams of My Father
Barack Obama (The President!)
Pages 1-28 (one chapter)

Okay, I know what you're thinking. "I can't believe Neil only read 27 pages. I think he can read more than that." Well, the pages are long and detailed. I mean, VERY LONG AND DETAILED WITH A HIGH VOCABULARY ON TOP OF THAT. Obama writes about his father in this chapter. He gets a call that his father died and then he goes back in time. Back to when he was a little kid and his mother and grandparents told stories about him. You see, Obama's father lived in Kenya. He came to America to improve Kenya. He married Barack's mother (who was "white") here. Obama describes a lot about race and how people made fun of Obama's parents because one was "black" and one was "white". Obama also claimed that he was surprised that his grandparents let their daughter marry an African-American.

I think this book is great. Although it is filled with high vocabulary, you can still understand everything that's happening. I also learned two things from this book; one about Barack's father's life story, and second that Barack's parents belonged to different races.

P.S. "Dreams of My Father" is the first non-fiction book I have ever read. It also has a lot of AR points$$$.

The Meanest Doll in the World
Alexandra
Chapter 1

Annabell's, a doll, owner's sister was taking a bath while playin with her dolls. Annabell had been passed on from her owner's great-grandmother to her grandmother to her mother to her... wow! She was an "ancient" doll, as she called herself. She has a BFF, Tifany, who is her owner's sister's doll. (Her owner's name is Kate, and Kate's sisters' name is Nora). Nora isn't supposed to be playing with Annabell or any of Kate's dolls, but she does. Annabell thinks that her Auntie Sarah went into PDS (permanant doll state) a couple of months before Tifanny arrived. Permanant Doll State is different from regular doll state:
PDS: when a doll gets transformed into a real doll and stops talking, walking and living.
DS: when a person sees a doll moving or talking the doll freezes in it's last position and stays that way for 24 hours

I think this book is good so far. I like the dolls' personalities! Especially Annabell.
